FRONT ENDS OR LINTELS - PORTIFORT

The components which make up this structural system are:

 Purlings.
 Frames.
 Front ends or lintels:

This is the name given to the framework of columns and beams which comprise the front and back ends of the building. Taking advantage of the need to include columns on the façade to absorb wind action, these are also used to support the roof beams, meaning that two rigid frames are, therefore, not required. The columns are calculated for as built-in elements at their base and as articulated elements at the head. They normally consist of hot-rolled, IPE-section profiles.

N.B.
If at some point in the future the building is to be extended on one of its ends, part of the front end  and framework can be replaced with a frame. Communication between the two sections can then be cleared of structural elements simply by removing the intermediate façade columns.
